Weekly Update #1 - Sudden Weeklies!
Greetings WARDENS and the Drift Monarchy, today marks the first week of weekly updates! Each Friday we will be updating you all on progress on our various games, make sure to follow us or join our community Discord to not miss out on any cool new features!
This week has had a short shift in focus to make some progress on Drift King, slowly inching forwards towards true multiplayer, fleshing out the final feature set of the game, and building the huge open world of Drift City. You may not be able to race each other just yet, but at least you can now communicate with each other!
Not all has been Drift King however, a bugfix release for FUNG has been completed, fixing all the issues brought to our attention during the first week of play. Some improvements to the FUNG GoL rendering have also been made, which should be very noticeable on the title screen!
Drift King - Changelog:
- Improved vehicle handling
- A lot of this is in the camera, which should now give much better feedback, making it easier to understand how the car is reacting to your inputs
- We are open to feedback on this!
- In-game chat added (press T to chat)
- Player name editing added (in Settings)
- Camera drone added!
- Now you can take shots of your souped up ride from a new angle, or shoot a video of your mates driving around!
- Redesigned dash UI, based on the original AE86 dashboard!
- Redesigned minimap and full map, now gives information on icons when hovering over them
- The new map saves a whole 20% of CPU usage (was using a camera to render map icons), freeing that up for future AI improvements
- Dirt tracks added
- Second airport picnic area
- Beachfront
- Under the tunnel exit overpass (near the hospital)
- Mountain Slog start (dry river bed, makes for more forgiving driving)
- Hills area improved (City North)
- Designed to be a bit like a skatepark, with ramps that encourage stunts
- Beachfront area improved (City West)
- Added new area - Mountain Underground
- Aircraft added to airport
- Building collisions improved (no more driving through windows)
- Airport building interior added (for later cutscenes)
- AI parking spaces added (unused, so far)
- Notification system for events added (also currently unused)
- Fix garage doors locking you in if multiple people interact with them
This concludes our first weekly update, feedback is - as ever - much appreciated! Go ahead and grab the latest versions and get playing!
