Weekly Update #5 - What Makes Me A Good Demo?

If it were a bad Demo, I wouldn't be sitting here discussing it wid ye, now would I?

Introducing, the FUNG Demo! Including the first half of Chapter One - DESCENT, to give you a good feel for what to expect from the full game. The demo is available for free on Steam and itch.io from today!

In other news, we've added a bunch of new story telling elements to the level editor, including subscenes (useful for making interactable computer terminals), and character portraits. No longer will you be spoken to only through a radio, you'll be accompanied throughout Chapter Two - COLLAPSE by the tough and resourceful Red!

Alongside the new story telling elements, we've also added another physics object, based on the bridge building parts, the water wheel! It's still being worked on so don't be alarmed if it's a little janky.

FUNG - Changelog:

  • Added Subscenes, can be triggered from Points of Interest (PoIs)
  • Added text input configuration for Points of Interest, can set a password to trigger a subscene to open
  • Rearranged bridge tools in the level editor to save space, now a single tool builds all parts
    • Note that the tools are still split for players, keeping it simple and easy to use
  • Added Computer UI Elements
    • Currently, only the computer Bootscreen is available
  • Added Water Wheels, useful for moving water around
  • Added link to the Discord from the main menu
  • Added character portraits, create your portraits as a 640x360 .png, and add them to your level intro dialogue
    • These are saved per chapter, so you only need to add your images once to use them anywhere within the chapter
  • Fix character portraits not being rendered at the same pixel scale as the game (even less mixels!)
